The Covid-19 Vaccine

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

It’s Saturday 19th December 2020.

My chosen topic today is ‘The Covid-19 Vaccine‘.

The subject on everyone’s lips at the moment is regarding the ‘Covid-19 vaccine’. Is it safe? Should we take it or not?

There are both sides to the argument and I am no professional medical expert or conspiracy theorist to be able to give judgement. However, what I would like to say is that as Muslims who have full faith and trust in Almighty Allāh, the matter is quite simple.

Our Creator created us and sent us into this world for a limited time. Our departure from this world is fixed and, as we all believe, it cannot be delayed or brought forward even by one second. We have been told how to live our lives including what we can do and what we can’t. So in times of difficulties and confusion, as we are going through at present, as human beings, all we need to do is follow the commands of our Creator as shown to us by our Beloved Prophet Muḥammad, صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ‎.

Enjoin the good, forbid the evil and move on in life. Each and every one of us should be yearning to meet our Creator. Who is Almighty Allāh? How does He look? What has He got in store for me in the Hereafter? As long as you follow the teachings of Islām to the best of your ability and are always prepared to meet Almighty Allāh, then whether the Covid 19 vaccine is genuine or a conspiracy will not have any effect on you at all.

If you decide to take it, and it is genuinely made for treatment, then you will benefit. If on the other hand, it is a conspiracy and you take it, Almighty Allāh will protect you because of your following and obeying of His Commands. If fate and destiny has it that you may not survive because of the vaccine, then you passing away will be termed as Shahādat (martyrdom). What more do you want?

Remember, the real purpose of life is to please the Creator, so that we are pleased to meet Him. Ask Almighty Allāh for the right guidance and beseech Him at all times. Unfortunately today, we have all become very weak. In the time of the Holy Prophet, صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ‎, if it became very windy, Rasulullah, صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ‎, and the Saḥābah, رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُم, hastened to the Masjid. Where do we stand today?

Covid came to the UK in March. The majority of our Masjids are still deserted for Farḍ Ṣalāh with Jamā’ah, and we are debating the Covid-19 vaccine.

As the famous saying goes ‘when you entered the world, you were crying while everyone else was rejoicing. Leave the world rejoicing, whilst everyone else will be crying‘.

Almighty Allāh keep us all steadfast on Īmān and Islam, Āmeen.
