السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
It’s Monday 11th May 2020. Today I wanted to speak about ‘Ramaḍān and Īsāl ath-thawāb’.
When I ponder upon my family history, I can track back about 3 generations at the most. Once I get to my great grandfather, I really do not know much more as regards family history. Very recently I was talking to Hāji Iqbāl Ḥāfiẓ Yūsuf Lorgat here in Blackburn who told me that they (the Lorgats) had preserved 300 years of family history, مَا شَآءَ الله. That definitely must be worth a read.
Anyway, we all agree that our progeny must have started at some point. When we ponder upon our lives today, we are so blessed that we cannot thank Almighty Allāh enough. The treasure of Imān that we have been bestowed with, must surely be our most priceless and valuable asset, followed by our health.
If you have Imān and good health then everything else is a bonus. However, we must never ever forget the sacrifices made by our ancestors, because of whom, we are who we are, and where we are, today. Most importantly, how do we repay them back? We have never seen them and, most probably, don’t even know about them.
Our beautiful religion Islām has the answer to everything. Termed as ‘Īṣāl ath-thawāb’, one can carry out a good deed with the intention of passing on the rewards to as many people as they want, سُبْحَانَ الله. What a wonderful method!
The treasures of The Almighty are so vast that He will give the full reward of that deed to as many people as the intention is made for, including the person who has carried out the deed. Nothing will be decreased, اللّٰهُ أَكْبَر.
Let us today make an intention of carrying out one good deed and pass on the rewards to all our ancestors. One of the best deeds is the provision of water. It is such a noble deed, termed as ‘Ṣadaqah Jāriah’, meaning everlasting charity.
