السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
It’s Thursday 30th April 2020. As we approach the blessed day of JumuꜤah, let’s talk about ‘Ramaḍān, JumuꜤah and Durūd Sharīf’.
Amongst the 12 Islamic months, the most blessed is Ramaḍān. Amongst the 7 days of the week, the most blessed is JumuꜤah. Amongst the whole creation of Almighty Allāh, our Holy Prophet Muḥammad صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ is the most blessed. How blessed are we that Almighty Allāh has bestowed us with Ramaḍān and JumuꜤah once again.
There is a very special connection between JumuꜤah and Durūd Sharīf. Although we are encouraged to recite Durūd Sharīf in abundance all the time, this should be increased after Maghrib on Thursday, until Maghrib on Friday.
Make a habit of sitting on your musallā after ꜤIshā every Thursday and visualise yourself sitting in the Rawdhā Mubārak, in al-Masjid an-Nabawī صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ, in Madīnah al-Munawwarah. Then, with full concentration, start reciting Durūd Sharīf.
Recite as much as you can while you are fully focused. Once your attention is diverted, stop. Before retiring to bed and during the whole day, whenever you get the chance, keep your Durūd Sharīf going.
There are a number of rewards and virtues mentioned for praying Durūd Sharīf. In one Ḥadīth, the Holy Prophet صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ is reported to have said that ‘The closest of people to me on the Day of Resurrection are those who sent the most blessings upon me.’ (Tirmidhī) سُبْحَانَ الله
Being in the company of the Holy Prophet صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ on the Day of Judgement, what more do we want!
May Almighty Allāh and the Angels send Salutations upon our Holy Prophet صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ and may Almighty Allāh bless us with the ability to recite Durūd Sharīf in abundance at all times, Āmeen.
