السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
It’s Thursday 2nd July 2020. Let’s talk about the virtues of ‘Sūrah al-Kahf’ today.
As we approach the blessed day of the week, let me tell you about a Sūrah of The Holy QurꜤān, that has a very special connection with Friday. Our Holy Prophet صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ is reported to have said:
- ‘Whosoever learns the first 10 verses of Sūrah al-Kahf, he will be safeguarded from the fitnah of Dajjāl’. (Muslim)
- This same virtue has been narrated regarding learning the last 10 verses of Sūrah al-Kahf as well. (Muslim)
- ‘Whosoever recites Sūrah al-Kahf on Friday, the sins committed from last Friday to this Friday are forgiven. (Ibn Kathir)
A number of virtues have been mentioned about Sūrah al-Kahf, three of which have been mentioned above. The coming of the Dajjāl will be a very testing time for the Muslims. The first and last 10 verses of Sūrah al-Kahf will protect us from the fitnah of Dajjāl. Therefore, let’s learn these 20 verses off by heart and pray them regularly اِنْ شَاءَ الَّلهُ.
The third virtue, recitation of the complete Sūrah every Friday, will become a means of forgiveness of all sins committed from the Friday before. Let’s start from tomorrow اِنْ شَاءَ الَّلهُ. None of us should miss out on reciting Sūrah al-Kahf every Friday.
Almighty Allāh protect us from the fitnah of Dajjāl and bless us with all the virtues of reciting Sūrah al-Kahf, Āmeen.
