Do You Really Care About Palestine?
You must be thinking what an obvious question I am asking. Of course, without a shadow of doubt, we all care. Our blood is at boiling point at this moment in time. And so it should be. However, besides words, what else?
Have we carried out any actions yet, which are very easy to carry out, and in accordance with the laws of the land? My Marḥūm father in law Qāri Ismā’īl Samniwālā, رَحْمَةُ الله عليه, used to pray 2 Rak’āt of Salāt ul-Hājah every day and make Du’ā for our Palestinian brothers, sisters and children.
This was his practice for over 40 years, مَا شَآءَ الله. For decades, our pro Palestine organisation ‘Friends of Al Aqsa (FOA)’ have begged us to carry out simple actions for Palestine. Hand on heart, have we ever carried out any action they have recommended?
My message today is enough is enough. The genocide has gone on for too long and gone too far. With immediate effect, we need to carry out the following 3 very simple actions:
1 – Pray 2 Rak’āt of Salāt ul-Hājah and make Du’ā for the Palestinians, every day.
2 – Boycott the following 2 companies with immediate effect: Coca Cola Ltd (all their products) and Puma (sportswear) company. They both fully support Israel and have blood on their hands. Inform them via email that you are boycotting their products.
3 – Check the Label. Similar to checking the V sign for suitable for vegetarians, make sure you check the country of origin of every item you buy. If ‘made in Israel’ or ‘produce of Israel’, don’t buy it.
Remember, we can all do our bit. That is the very least we can do. Muslim wholesalers need to stop stocking Coca Cola products immediately. Retailers, restaurants and takeaways need to stop buying and consumers should stop immediately.
If you truly and sincerely care, then prove it with your actions. Otherwise, you are unintentionally directly assisting the oppressors. Almighty Allāh only asks us to do what is within our capacity. Unfortunately, we have failed thus far. Let this message of mine go far and wide.
May the day be close when Palestine and Masjid al-‘Aqṣā are liberated, Āmeen.
