Ramaḍān and Forgiveness

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

It’s Tuesday 5th May 2020. Today I would like to talk about ‘Ramaḍān and Forgiveness‘.

The second 10 days (ꜤAsharah) of Ramaḍān bring the Forgiveness of The Almighty. Never in the history of humanity has mankind needed the Forgiveness of His Lord more than today. Let’s first and foremost ponder upon the sins we have committed for which we have to seek Forgiveness.

If the sins are related to the rights of the servants (Huquq ul-ꜤIbād) then, we must ask for forgiveness from them, and if any rights are due then they must be carried out in full. Then, ask for forgiveness from Allāh as well.

If the sins are related to the rights of Almighty Allāh, then seek Forgiveness from Him. Leave no stone unturned in begging for Forgiveness from your Lord. We can ask for Forgiveness in any language we want.

The term ‘Astaghfirullāh’ is very powerful and recommended by many pious saints. However, not parrot fashion please. With complete devotion and conviction, understand what you are saying : ‘I ask for Allāh’s Forgiveness‘.

Here comes the most important part of Forgiveness. Make a very firm promise that you will never ever commit that sin again. Then, ask Almighty Allāh to help you fulfil that promise.

Use your self determination and will power. When you get the urge to commit that sin, fight the urge. You will definitely overcome it. Today, we are involved in many sins which we don’t even regard as sins. This is very detrimental.

So brothers and sisters, let us truly make the days of this second ꜤAsharah of Ramaḍān the days of Forgiveness.

Almighty Allāh forgive the sins of each and every one of us, and give us the ability and strength to stay away from sins at all times, Āmeen.
