Our Visit To Sindh (Pakistan)
Our delegation from Zakarīyā Masjid (Dewsbury, UK) wanted to reach out to those areas where aid had not reached. This was no easy task. From Lahore, we travelled for some 3 hours to Multan and from Multan another 5 hours to Sukkur.
After spending the night in Sukkur, we travelled another 3 hours to Khairpur in Sindh. What we saw next was beyond belief. Acres and acres of land were submerged in water. Hundreds of families had lost all their belongings. Then came the real test.
In order to see the areas most badly affected, we had to cross the water on wooden boats. This was a 30 minutes journey, not for the faint hearted.
