Music

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

As we approach Maghrib this Friday 3rd April 2020, I wanted to bring the attention of all brothers and sisters to a major sin which if committed openly in public then we are inviting the Wrath and Anger of The Almighty.

This major sin is the playing of ‘Music’. It is so sad to see that hardly a Muslim wedding is free from this. From the moment you enter the function suite, all that you hear is music, music, music. Professional artists are hired out for the day who will turn up the volume as and when they desire. As if that wasn’t enough, wait for the moments when the bride and groom make their entrances with their families.

The same daughter who father and mother were supposed to protect from the gazes of non-Maḥrams now bring their daughter in view of the whole world with cameras and mobile phones flashing all over. Then comes the traditional English wedding reception music.

  • How did we stoop so low, brothers and sisters?
  • Is this what our beautiful religion Islām teaches us?
  • Is this what we listen to in Bayāns week in week out?
  • Do we not worry about the Last Day?
  • I really do apologise for this harsh tone but how did we get to this?
  • Parents blame children saying they don’t listen. Is that really true?

We are all involved in this. Now that we are at a standstill, let’s first and foremost repent for the past and make a promise to The Almighty never ever again to play music, at any level, at any event.

May The Almighty give us all the right understanding and guidance. The purpose is to first remind myself and then as many brothers and sisters as possible.

Please feel free to share my messages with near and dear loved ones. Almighty Allāh save us at all times from his Wrath and Anger, Āmeen.
