Private Individual Worship in The Masjid

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

It’s Friday 12th June 2020. My chosen topic today is ‘Private Individual Worship in The Masjid‘.

As Masjids across the country are preparing to open their doors after three months, let’s get ready to make the most of this wonderful opportunity. As and when your Masjid officials inform you that you are allowed to come to the Masjid, please comply fully with their instructions, and enter the House of Allāh with humility and devotion.

Perform Wuḍū’ at home, and pick up your Musalla and shoe bag. On the way, perform some Dhikr, thanking Almighty Allāh for this opportunity.

Reciting the DuꜤā for entering the Masjid and making the intention for Nafl IꜤtikāf, let tears flow profusely as you start your 2 RakꜤāt of Taḥiyyat ul-Masjid on your designated space allocated by the officials. During the 2 RakꜤāt, concentrate fully, keeping in mind that your Lord is watching each and every action of yours and is also listening to each and every word of yours.

Thereafter, make your DuꜤā, again with full attention, begging The Almighty for forgiveness. Talk to Allāh, connect with Him, admit to your sins and faults, and make a promise never to repeat such actions again. Remember, as this is private individual worship, perform it in silence. Do not disturb others.

For those who know the 99 Beautiful Names of Allāh, the ‘Asmā ul-Husnā’, beseech Almighty Allāh with each name adding ‘Yā’ before each : ‘Yā Raḥmān’, ‘Yā Raḥīm’, etc. Implore Allāh Almighty to remove this virus, and more importantly, give us the taufīq & ability to refrain from those actions due to which this virus has been afflicted upon us.

Pray for the Marḥūmīn and the sick, pray for the whole of humanity, and last but not least, a very humble request to remember me and my family as well in your pious DuꜤās.

Finally, the most important action is to listen to and comply with the instructions of the Masjid officials. Although they are all volunteers, I did not address them as volunteers or marshals, preferring to give them the title ‘officials’, as they have officially been given the responsibility to handle this operation. Remember, the government, public health, etc. are involved. Do not let our Masjid officials down; obey their instructions and enjoy your worship.

Almighty Allāh accept the exceptional work of all the officials who have prepared our Masjids for opening in a very short space of time and reward them accordingly, Āmeen.
