السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
It’s Tuesday 28th April 2020. Let’s touch upon ‘Ramaḍān’s Connection with The Holy QurꜤān’.
As all brothers and sisters will be aware, there is a special connection between Ramaḍān and The Holy QurꜤān. Indeed, it was in Ramaḍān that The QurꜤān was revealed.
Almighty Allāh mentions in Sūrah al-Qadr: We revealed it (QurꜤān) in Laylat ul-Qadr (Night of Power). Therefore, it goes without saying that we must read as much QurꜤān as possible, not just in Ramaḍān, but every single day of our life. We should also try to understand what our Creator is telling us.
Today, I have a very special gift for you. Before I present you with it, let me first shed some background history.
In the 1960s, a young scholar laid foot on UK soil for the first time in his life. There were very few Muslims here at that time, and hardly any Masjids. This scholar had come with a vision. He was very passionate about how he could benefit the generations that were about to scatter all over the UK and beyond.
His thirst and zeal resulted in him coming across an old building which had closed down and was on the market, around 1974. This dynamic scholar, with the help of Almighty Allāh and a few very close associates, took the mammoth step of purchasing the building.
It was an unprecedented move. In a land thousands of miles from his homeland, where Muslims had only recently started to arrive, where there were maybe around 50 Masjids in the whole country, this scholar made the purchase of the lifetime.
The first few students arrived and enrolled at this new institute. It gradually expanded. The sincerity of the founders was very apparent. Within a very short time, approximately 300 students had enrolled.
Five years after the purchase, the spiritual guide and leader of this scholar blessed the institute and the UK with his historical visit. The UK was buzzing. Thousands of Muslims from all over the UK, gathered at this institute to catch a glimpse of this spiritual giant.
He returned, two years later, in 1981. Once again, thousands flocked to benefit from this saint. The young dynamic scholar I am referring to is none other than my spiritual guide and mentor, ‘Ḥaḍrat Mawlānā Yūsuf Motālā Ṣāḥib نور الله مرقده’.
The building purchased in 1974 is none other than our beloved ‘Dārul Uloom Bury’. The few close associates who are founders together with Ḥaḍrat are none other than ‘Mawlānā Hāshim Jogwāri Ṣāḥib مدظله العالی’ and ‘Qāri IsmāꜤīl Samniwālā نور الله مرقده’ (my father-in-law).
The spiritual guide of these scholars, who blessed the Dārul Uloom and the UK, in 1979 and 1981, was none other than ‘Qutubul Aqtāb Ḥaḍrat Shaykh Zakarīyā نور الله مرقده’.
Today, I would like to gift you all a translation of The Holy QurꜤān in English, which is the work of one of the most influential graduates of Dārul Uloom Bury.
You can download an electronic copy from http://englishqurantranslation.org.
This graduate is none other than Mawlānā (Dr) Maḥmood Chāndia PhD (Bolton, UK). The foreword to the translation has been written by Ḥaḍrat Mawlānā Yūsuf Motālā Ṣāḥib نور الله مرقده.
I pray to The Almighty to accept this work of Mawlānā Maḥmood and make it a means of Iysālis Thawāb (passing on the rewards) to Ḥaḍrat Mawlānā Yūsuf Motālā Ṣāḥib نور الله مرقده, Ḥaḍrat Mawlānā Hāshim Jogwāri دامت برکاتہم, Qāri IsmāꜤīl Samniwālā نور الله مرقده, and all our teachers past and present, those who have left this world and those who are alive, Āmeen.
Almighty Allāh preserve Mawlānā Maḥmood , his family and all of us in His Protection, Āmeen. At present, this translation is available online only. A hard copy is being worked on.
All readers are humbly requested to make very special DuꜤās for a successful completion, Āmeen. The hard copy will also be Iysālis Thawāb for all mentioned above. Let the reading begin.
