السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
It’s Saturday 14th November 2020.
My chosen topic today is ‘Make Sure You Visit Your Local Masjid Everyday‘.
As we are in our second lockdown, Masjids are open for individual worship only. Since the 5th of November, this is now the 10th day. How many of us have visited our local Masjid every single day? If on a normal day we were visiting 5 times, have we visited 5 times daily since lockdown began?
We are so quick to jump on the bandwagon when the government stops us from Jamā’ah and quite rightly so. However, who is stopping us from attending the Masjid for individual worship? If we are praying our Ṣalāh with Jamā’ah at home, then come to the Masjid and pray some Qaḍā, Nawāfil, Qur’ān, and spend time in the remembrance of Almighty Allāh (Zikr).
Each and every mature Muslim who has no symptoms and not isolating should be spending at least one hour in the Masjid every day. That is the minimum time you would spend if you attended 5 times daily. There is no excuse at all for leaving these Houses of Almighty Allāh empty, when they are open and we are allowed individual worship. Please do not take this lightly.
Finally, a very humble request to those management committees who have completely closed their Masjids. There is no need at all to close. You have been chosen by The Almighty to be the custodians of His House. Do not betray that trust. If you feel you cannot manage the openings then, with all due respect, let someone else take over.
A massive responsibility lies on your shoulders, and if you keep the Masjids closed when the law allows them to remain open, then remember that the Wrath and Anger of Almighty Allāh is not far away. By all means, follow all the regulations; social distancing, masks, hand sanitizers, etc., but closing the Masjids completely is depriving yourself and your community of the Mercy of The Almighty.
Almighty Allāh give us all the correct understanding, Āmeen.
