Lowering the Gaze

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

It’s Wednesday 8th July 2020.

Let’s talk about ‘Lowering the Gaze’ today.

On the Day of Judgement, Almighty Allāh will give all parts of our body the power to speak out about all the activities they committed in the world. The mouth will be sealed while the eyes, ears, hands, legs, etc. will speak. One of the most common sins today are those committed with the eyes.

Our beautiful religion teaches us to lower our gaze so that we do not fall into committing unlawful activities. Remember, it all starts with the gaze, then one thing leads to another and before we know it, we fall into major sins. This lowering of the gaze applies to both males and females.

One point, especially for the females, is to ensure they do not dress in a manner that may attract the attention of the opposite sex. This also is regarded as a major sin. Protection of the gaze is not just when we are out and about on the streets and in the shopping centres. One of the most dangerous avenues is our mobile phone, or social media gadget. They have virtually wrecked the fabric of our whole society.

The eyes are a wonderful Blessing of The Almighty. The value of the eyes can only be explained by a blind person. Use your eyes for pleasing your Creator, not to disobey Him.

Almighty Allāh Bless us with the ability to use all of His Gifts in His obedience, Āmeen.
