السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

My chosen subject today is ‘A Very Valuable Gift From a Very Special Person’.
A few months ago, I wrote about my visit to the world famous Islamic Dawah Academy, run under the auspices of Shaykh ul-Ḥadīth Mawlānā Muḥammad Salim Dhorat Ṣāḥib, مدظله العالی. The Majlis that takes place every Friday evening is very special, and very spiritual.
On Friday 2nd April, three of us from Blackburn, accompanied by a close friend from Preston, headed out for the IDA once again. Due to being late and everyone observing social distancing, we had to be content with getting a place on the third floor.
As usual, Shaykh’s words of wisdom were very powerful, having an immense effect on the attendees. The Majlis ended with ‘Ishā Ṣalāh after which the Zikr Majlis took place. Most people leave after Isha or on completion of their Zikr.
Even though Shaykh has a grueling schedule, engaged in teaching or other activities of the Academy since Jumu’ah, and usually without a proper break, he then takes some time out to sit with guests who have traveled from all over the country.
Shaykh Saleem’s words of wisdom continued in this informal Majlis. Almighty Allāh has truly gifted Shaykh Saleem with a lot of knowledge, مَا شَآءَ الله. The magnificent verses of the Holy Qur’ān, ornamented with the beautiful sayings of our Holy Prophet Muḥammad, صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ, flowed from the Shaykh, benefiting the audience. It was a most enlightening evening that stretched into the darkness of the night, ending with one of the attendees performing Bayt at the hands of the Shaykh.
Then came the most precious gift of the evening, the icing on the cake. Shaykh graced the attendees further by gifting them with his latest booklet, 13 pages full of Qur’ānic Verses and the Aḥādīth of the Holy Prophet, صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ, to be recited by those who are not well or feeling down. Titled Ruqyah of Nabi صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ, this kitāb is a must for each and every household.

Shaykh has also compiled another brilliant compilation, Supplications for the Time of Sickness, on a similar theme.
As we left Leicester for Blackburn at around 2am, we pondered upon everything the Shaykh had said that evening. Although all of Shaykh’s words were full of wisdom, one particular point stood out.
Shaykh mentioned that ‘one might spend his full life in the disobedience of Almighty Allāh because of which Almighty Allāh will be displeased with him. However, it will take only a few minutes to make the Creator happy, as long as you ask for repentance with sincerity and make a firm intention of not committing any sins anymore’.
May Almighty Allāh grant Shaykh Saleem the best of health and lengthen his shadow upon us for a very long time to come, Āmeen.
