Illness Is A Blessing
Today I just wanted to put out a brief reminder to all those people who may be going through a short or long term illness. Heart attacks, strokes, being diagnosed with Cancer, etc. have become very common these days. Regardless of age or health condition, every day we hear that so and so has got such an illness.
Easily said than done, we should regard each illness as a blessing from our Magnificent Creator. The tougher the illness, the greater the blessing. Our Belief in Taqdīr (fate) teaches us that each and every thing only happens by the Will and Command of Almighty Allāh.
Tomorrow (Saturday), many thousands of families will be celebrating weddings or other happy occasions. On the other hand, many will be mourning the loss of their loved ones. That is the reality of life.
If you or a family member or relative have an illness or been diagnosed with a long term illness, do not let it lead you into depression. Think of all the bounties Almighty Allāh will grant you in return for these difficulties and hardships. When one will see the rewards in the Hereafter, he/she will wish they had gone through more illnesses and troubles in this world.
Finally, an illness gives one an opportunity to reflect upon their past and prepare for their future. It enables one to thank Almighty Allāh for all the Favours He has bestowed upon them. Therefore, in times of illness, trials and hardships, draw even closer to Almighty Allāh and have patience, which will be rewarded manifold in the Hereafter, Āmeen.
