السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

Who is your role model?
As Muslims, it is absolutely necessary to make sure we know who our role model is. To start off with, a non-Muslim can never be our role model. The most important and precious asset of a human being, without a shadow of doubt, is Īmān.
The best role model for Muslims is the Holy Prophet Muḥammad, صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. Each and every action carried out by the Holy Prophet, صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ, is an example and a lesson for us. Therefore, we should very carefully study the Seerah of our Holy Prophet, صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ, and try our utmost best to follow in His Noble Footsteps.
Thereafter, brothers can emulate the 4 Khalīfahs and the Saḥābah, رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ. And our sisters have the wives and daughters of the Holy Prophet, صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ, as well as the Saḥābiyyat ,رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ.
It is a real shame today that we have started to adopt any Tom, Dick or Harry as our role model. The media constantly paints pictures of so and so and we start becoming their fans. This should not be the case.
Yes of course, many non-Muslims possess many good qualities; there is no denying that. But to go to the extent of making them your role model is just a step too far. If we have in the past adopted non-Muslims as our role models, then let’s ask Almighty Allāh for forgiveness.
Each and every living creature will taste death. Victorious and glorious will be he who leaves with Īmān from this temporary world for the eternal hereafter.
May The Almighty grant us all the correct guidance and keep us steadfast on Īmān till our departure from this world, Āmeen.
