It’s Monday 29th June 2020.
My chosen topic today is ’84 Qur’ān Khatm in 84 Days’.
As we went into lockdown, a few concerned individuals of our local Masjid-e-Anīsul Islām (Troy Street, Blackburn), came up with a brilliant idea. They formed ‘Anīsul Islām Qur’ān Group’ and invited those associated with the Masjid to take part in a collective Qur’ān recitation, . What a wonderful idea. The result?
Today, we will be completing our 84th Qur’ān, . Approximately 30 of us joined the group (give and take), which meant that we all had to pray our one Juz within one day. By this Sunday (5 July), 90 collective Khatm will have been completed, مَا شَآءَ الله, and each participant will have 3 personal completions recorded in their book of deeds, اِنْ شَاءَ الَّلهُ.
Today, I asked one of the organisers about how they came up with this beautiful initiative. Here comes the point. Credit goes to the sisters associated with Masjid-e-Anīsul Islām. Our local sisters group has been doing collective Qur’ān Khatm for a while, The wife shared her good practice with her husband.
When a close friend asked him what we, as a community, could do to please Almighty Allāh due to the coronavirus, he shared this idea gleaned from his wife, which they in turn shared with the Musallī. Today, I am sharing it with you. It’s not compulsory and there is no obligation. When a message is posted on the WhatsApp group that a member has completed his one Juz for the day, it serves to encourage and motivate.
Therefore, if not already started, go for it. The first person to organise it will get all the rewards, If you have fewer members, complete every 2, or even, 3 days. This is where our Anīsul Islām brothers and sisters differ. Although the sisters started before us, they complete one Juz every 2 weeks. We, on the other hand, complete daily. Suffice to say, we must be in the lead. Finally, on The Qur’ān Group, we strictly talk about The Qur’ān only, nothing else.
Almighty Allāh accept our daily recitation and Khatm and bestow us all with the ability to continue with this super practice, Āmeen.
