A Memorable ‘Eid Ṣalāh in Albania

After enjoying over 700 years of Islamic rule, Albania went through a period of Communism during which all Islamic practices were prohibited. The country gained independence in 1989 and, with the Mercy and Blessings of Almighty Allāh, now has over 900 Masjids.

The Muslim Welfare Institute (MWI) has renovated a number of Masjids, and manage them. One of these is situated in the village of Belsh, right next to the Lake. Named in the memory of the Grand Mufti of Albania, Mufti Sabri Koci, this Masjid was highlighted in the local Belsh TV channel on ‘Eid ul-Fiṭr 1445H.

Our three scholars from India led the proceedings. Qāri Bilāl started the programme with his beautiful recitation of The Holy Qur’ān. Mawlānā Sirāj addressed the congregation in the Albanian language and Mawlānā Yahya led the ‘Eid Ṣalāh.

This has been captured in a short video clip by Belsh TV. It was a memorable moment that we would like to share with our well wishers and supporters.
Please share widely with all your contacts.
