Let’s talk about ‘The Speciality of Sha’bān’ today.
As we are swiftly moving through the month of Sha’bān, what is very special about this month? It is the month that comes before Ramaḍān and a month wherein we have been encouraged to fast as much as possible.
Fasting carries a lot of rewards and virtues at all times, but the fasts of Sha’bān are the most virtuous, after the fasts of Ramaḍān. So if you haven’t already started and are in a position to do so, don’t delay, start from tomorrow. Keep as many as you can.
Our scholars say that we should avoid fasting towards the end of Sha’bān, especially on the 29th of Sha’bān. The reason for this is to have a break and get fully energised for Ramaḍān.
One more very important message today. Our religion teaches us to obey The Almighty at all times. It’s a 24/7/365 religion from the cradle to the grave. Why do I mention such an obvious thing?
It really is a joke that we have already started making plans to make sure we come to the Masjid next Thursday night (17th March) to pray Maghrib and ‘Ishā with Jamā’ah and then, after listening to the Bayān, praying Fajr with Jamā’ah.
Praying Ṣalāh 5 times is Farḍ today as well as tomorrow and every other day. Praying with Jamā’ah for men is Wajib everyday. So what are all these plans for? Why are we picking and choosing when to worship and not to worship?
These special nights and days are for us to increase our worship and to double and triple our rewards. So please do not countdown to Shab Barāt, and then Ramaḍān and then Yawm-e-‘Arafah. Start your daily worship from today.
May The Almighty take us through Sha’bān with ease and comfort and keep us healthy and fit for Ramaḍān, Āmeen.
