The Passing Away of Ḥaḍrat Mawlānā Sanāullāh Wādiwālā Ṣāḥib

When I enrolled at Dārul Uloom Bury in 1982, I came across Ḥaḍrat Mawlānā Ismā’īl Wādiwālā Ṣāḥib, نور الله مرقد,ه. I had prayed a few Ṣalāhs behind Ḥaḍrat Mawlānā, when he was the Imām at Masjid-e-Noorul Islām, here in Blackburn.

During one Fajr in Ramaḍān 1982, I recall Ḥaḍrat Mawlānā was reciting the Qur’ān and was taken over by the condition of ‘Wajd’. He screamed out aloud during Ṣalāh.

In the 8 years I was blessed to have spent at Dārul Uloom, I came across 3 of Ḥaḍrat Mawlānā’s sons. Sufi Mufti Tāhir Ṣāḥib, Mawlānā Fazle Ḥaq Ṣāḥib and Mawlānā Sanāullāh Ṣāḥib, and was honoured to have been taught by all 3, اَلْحَمْدُلِلّه.

On Saturday 11th April, Mawlānā Sanāullāh departed from this temporary world. On a very wet afternoon here in Blackburn, the Qabrastān started to fill up from 2:30pm. By 3:30pm, the Janāzgāh (Prayer Shelter) and the open section in front were jam packed with people who had travelled from the length and breadth of the country to participate in the Janāzah Ṣalāh.

Mawlānā Sanāullāh was a silent saint. His status was recognised by almost no-one. Very softly spoken, always smiling, as humble as one can be, truly an amazing character.

Unfortunately, as is always the case, we recognise the value of a person after they depart from this world.

May The Almighty convert Ḥaḍrat Mawlānā Sanāullāh’s resting place into a Garden of Jannat ul-Firdaus and bless his family with Sabr Jameel, Āmeen.

A humble request to all to always remember Ḥaḍrat Mawlānā in their Du’ās and to continue with Īsāl ath-Thawāb and Sadaqah Jāriah actions.
