السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
It’s Thursday 25th June 2020. Let’s talk about ‘Self Accountability’ today.
From the moment we wake up until going to sleep, we are involved in one activity or another. Such is the nature of the life that we are living. To simplify matters, we can categorise all our actions into two.
Either we are pleasing our Creator with our actions or we are displeasing Him. Our purpose of life is to please The Almighty. Therefore, when we go to sleep at night, we need some ‘Self Accountability‘ before falling to sleep. As you lie in your bed, rewind back to the time you woke up and go through your day.
Wherever you find a moment of disobedience, ask The Almighty for forgiveness. For all the moments of obedience, thank The Almighty for His Blessings upon you (Shukr). If you make a habit of this exercise of ‘self accountability’, you will never go to sleep with any sins remaining outstanding in your account.
Remember, sleep is known as the sister of death. In other words, once you are asleep, it is as though you are dead; only Almighty Allāh knows if you will wake up or not. So from tonight, let’s start the practice of ‘self accountability’ اِنْ شَاءَ الَّلهُ. When you ask Almighty Allāh for forgiveness, make a firm intention not to commit that disobedience again. Very soon you will get to the stage where there will be no more disobedience left اِنْ شَاءَ الَّلهُ.
Almighty Allāh grant us all the ability to ‘self account’ and ‘self rectify’, Āmeen.
جَزَاكَ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا
