Beginning Time of the Fast

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

It’s 1pm on Saturday 28th March 2020. As we have entered the month of Shābān, many people will start to fast. Due to the global situation, many more people will fast than normal.

All of us who are reading this message, especially the Muftiyān-e-Kirām, Imāms and ‘Ulamā, are humbly requested to ponder very, very carefully over the ‘Beginning Time of the Fast’. Just think in the light of the Sharī’ah.

The majority, if not all, of the Muslim World start their fast when the sun is 18 degrees below the horizon. Followers of Hizbul ‘Ulamā here in the UK are the only exception to this rule. I have tried for a very long time to discuss this issue with Hizbul ‘Ulamā and local scholars but no one wants to touch it.

Maybe, just maybe, this coronavirus may make us think twice. Let it not be that we are starting our fast after Ṣubḥ Ṣādiq, hence the fasts being void.

With the Holy month of Ramaḍān just less than a month away please do not shy away from this issue.

  • Look into it
  • Discuss it
  • Speak to Hizbul ‘Ulamā
  • Speak to the Mushāhidīn (Those whom have observed the Ṣubḥ Ṣādiq times)

But please, please, do not remain silent. It is the Law of Almighty Allāh that we are transgressing. This is the time to guide the Ummah. I am ready for discussions.

Almighty Allāh keep us all in His Protection, Āmeen.
