Relationships in Islām
As the new academic year begins, many Muslim children will be facing lots of challenges. It is absolutely essential that we educate our children with the beautiful teachings of Islām from a very young age.
The majority of UK Maktabs will enrol children once they are 5 years old. There are many opportunities in most towns and cities of the UK to admit your children into a Maktab setting. Please ensure you don’t miss out.
My message today is regarding the types of relationships allowed in Islām. We as parents must ensure that we educate our children very strongly on this particular subject. Almighty Allāh created the whole universe along with each and every thing that is in it. This includes all living creatures.
As regards humans, Almighty Allāh created men and women. This power to decide who will be a male and who will be a female is with Almighty Allāh only. As we grow up and reach the age of adulthood, there will be a natural desire for a relationship. A male will desire a female and a female will desire a male.
For this relationship to materialise and become a reality, our Creator has taught us the laws of Nikāh and marriage. Once conducted, both become husband and wife and can now fulfil their natural desires. This is the teaching in every major religion be it Islām, Christianity, or Judaism.
To look for a relationship beyond this is totally forbidden. All the 3 Holy Books, The Qur’ān, Bible and Torah clearly mention this. Therefore, a male having a relationship with a male or a female having a relationship with another female is completely forbidden.
The story of Ḥaḍrat Lūt (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) is very clearly mentioned in the Holy Qur’ān. There is no need to fear teaching these very important teachings to our children. There is nothing to hide. As parents, make sure you know what is being taught to your children in the schools and colleges and if you find anything inappropriate, do not hesitate to contact the school and put your concerns forward.
We have now been in the UK for over 60 years. Our third generation is now facing very difficult challenges. Our most important asset is our Īmān. Make sure we do not compromise it at any cost.
May The Almighty protect our Īmān and the Īmān of our generations to come, Āmeen.
Please share this message widely.
