السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
It’s Wednesday 9th February 2022 / 9 Rajab 1443H.
Let’s focus on our Ramaḍān preparations today.
If you are reading this message of mine today, then count yourself as one of the lucky ones who has entered the month of Rajab. During the time of our Beloved Prophet, صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ, preparations for the upcoming Holy month of Ramaḍān used to begin as soon as the Rajab crescent was sighted.
Whilst the majority of our mothers, sisters and daughters have already started their Ifṭār preparations by making their favourite food items, how many of us have actually started preparations to make sure we make the most of each and every second of the blessed month of Ramaḍān?
As fasting is the most important element of Ramaḍān worship, we should start practising from now. The days are still very short. Fasting every Monday and Thursday is a Sunnah. Also, the fasts of the 13th, 14th and 15th of every month, known as Ayyām-e-Bīḍh (White Days), is also Sunnah.
This will make fasting much easier for us when Ramaḍān starts. Then comes the recitation of the Holy Qur’ān. Start reciting from now. Get in to the habit of reciting as much as you can daily. This will make reciting in Ramaḍān much easier. Similarly, with each and every other act of worship, start practicing from now.
This also applies to abstaining and refraining from sins – start now. Let go of all the sins from now, and it will be much easier to stay away from sins in Ramaḍān. Remember, not every one of us is blessed with this month every year.
There is no guarantee of life or good health. Make the most of this coming Ramaḍān. Value each and every second. Get ready to reap all the benefits and rewards of Laylat ul-Qadr. Don’t waste this golden opportunity.
Finally, a word to my Ḥuffāẓ colleagues. Try and secure a place on the Musalla of a Masjid to lead the Tarāwīḥ Ṣalāh. It is the best time and place to strengthen your memorisation. If you cannot get into a Masjid, then at least organise your own Tarāwīḥ at a suitable location with other Ḥuffāẓ colleagues.
Although we should be reciting the Qur’ān daily, our recitation should increase during these 2 months and reach the absolute top level during Ramaḍān. Again, please, please, do not miss this wonderful opportunity.
Almighty Allāh grant us Barakah in Rajab and Sha’bān and take us to Ramaḍān, Āmeen.
Please share this message with your contacts so that collectively we all benefit, Āmeen.
