Night & Day
Having created the whole universe and everything in it, Almighty Allāh also created the night and the day. The night is for resting and sleeping and the day is for working. Unless you are working night shifts, there is no reason at all to be awake at night.
The reason for writing this message is, when I wake up in the morning, I see so many messages sent to me during the night; 1am, 2am, even 3am. What are you doing awake at that time?
Once you have performed your ‘Ishā Ṣalāh, then unless there is a very pressing item that needs to be addressed straightaway, it’s time to retire to bed and enjoy a good sleep. What a wonderful favour from our Creator that we can fall asleep and wake up nice and fresh for the next day, اِنْ شَاءَ الَّلهُ.
The main culprits keeping you awake are the social media gadgets. The alarm clock feature within the mobile is detrimental. Every time your eye opens at night, you get your phone to check the time and at the same time catch up on your messages.
No, my brothers and sisters, this is not what the mobile is for. So let’s take stock of our lives once again. Go to sleep as soon after ‘Ishā as possible. Keep your social media gadgets away from you at night time and take full advantage of this great blessing of ‘sleep’ which has been bestowed upon us, Āmeen.
جَزَاكَ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا
