Let’s Unite the UK on Moon Sighting

With only 7 weeks to go to Ramaḍān, an excellent opportunity has come up for the Muslims of Blackburn and the surrounding areas, to understand the issue of Moon Sighting and to unite on this very important issue.

What does the Sharī’ah say regarding Moon Sighting? Why, in the UK, do we have 3 different Moon Sighting criteria? Which one can practically unite us all? All these issues, and many more, will be clarified at the 2024 annual Moon Sighting seminar, organised by the Blackburn Moon Sighting Committee (BMSC), اِنْ شَاءَ الَّلهُ.

Details of the event are in the above poster. Remember, fasting is one of the 5 pillars of Islām Similar to Ṣalāh, Zakāt and Haj, Fasting has been prescribed in the Holy Qur’ān and the days to fast have been ordained by our Creator.

We have to make sure we start Ramaḍān on the correct day and celebrate ‘Eid on the correct day. Unity on this most important issue can be achieved if we make the effort, اِنْ شَاءَ الَّلهُ.

A humble request to all brothers and sisters to attend this conference, educate themselves and then decide which criteria to follow this Ramaḍān. Our Sharī’ah does not advocate ‘blind following’. Research and understand what you follow.
