السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
It’s Wednesday 22nd September 2021/15th Safar 1443H.
Let me take you to the world famous, stunningly beautiful, Lake District today.
It must have been about 40 years ago, when I was at Pleckgate High School, here in Blackburn, that I first visited the Lake District, as part of the annual school trip. Ever since that first visit, there have been some memorable trips to The Lakes, which has become one of my favourite destinations.
Very recently, we had the opportunity to host Shaykh ul-Islam Mufti Muḥammad Taqī Usmāni and the Mufti-e-Āzam of India, Mufti Aḥmed Khanpuri, in The Lakes as well. I also recall spending a few hours in The Lakes with the Grand Mufti of Pakistan, Mufti Muḥammad Rafī Usmāni, when he was hosted by Mahbūb ul-‘Ulamā, Shaikh Muḥammad Saleem Dhorāt.
During all my visits, including the ones with the distinguished guests, we have never been able to pray Ṣalāh in a Masjid. We have always prayed out in the open and, if the weather hasn’t allowed, then in the hotels. The reason being, that there is no purpose built Masjid in the Lake District.
So can you imagine my happiness and joy when I got to know about the first ever Masjid to be constructed in the South Lakes. Even more encouraging was the news that 12 youngsters of our community from Preston, are going on a bike ride from Preston to the Masjid location and back, to raise donations for this Masjid. سُبْحَانَ الله. مَا شَآءَ الله.
What zeal and passion for such a worthy cause. This bike ride is taking place this coming weekend 25th/26th September, اِنْ شَاءَ الَّلهُ. I wanted to take this opportunity to make a humble request to each and every one of you to make an intention of raising a total of at least £100 Lillāh from yourself, family, and friends, for this most worthwhile cause. It’s not a very high target and not difficult at all.
