An Hour with the HMC Operations Manager, Nadeem Ādam
In true HMC style, the Operations Manager popped into Blackburn for an unannounced flying visit. It was a privilege for me to catch up on the progress of the HMC (Ḥalāl Monitoring Committee) and I was very pleased with the progress made since its inception.
Nadeem informed me that in the HMC league (most HMC outlets), Blackburn is number five at the moment. London being in first place followed by Leicester then Birmingham and Bradford. That is the butchers and restaurants league.
At one time, we were in the top three. In the HMC schools league, Blackburn is still number one, .مَا شَآءَ الله The best thing about HMC is that all products are non-stunned. We can consume, with peace of mind, that we are not eating meat from animals that were dead before being slaughtered.
Nadeem also informed me that a technique called ‘gas stunning’ is being used in many places, which has a much higher risk of the animal dying before slaughter. So my message today, especially to my Blackburn readers and generally to all my readers, is that let’s step up a gear in our campaign to have all our outlets HMC certified.
In an age when we spend so much money on eating out at restaurants and dessert parlours, not forgetting all our Chai shops, spend a little more on your meat and chicken, and buy it from HMC certified outlets.
Nadeem also informed me of a number of outlets in Blackburn and the surrounding areas claiming to be HMC, but are not, and are deceiving the public. He urges everyone to check the yellow window sticker and the HMC certificate on every visit to every outlet.
Check on the HMC website and app on a regular basis. So come on brothers and sisters, let’s get each and every outlet in Blackburn HMC certified. Remember, consumer power drives the industry. If we all demand HMC, the outlets will have no choice but to provide.
May The Almighty take HMC from strength to strength and grant us all the ability to consume genuine Ḥalāl products at all times, Āmeen.
