السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Hope you are well.
Further to my message on Saturday 25th June, I would like to share:
- One video clip
- Two audio clips
… with all those following this issue.
One of the main reasons for not accepting the local UK only criteria cited by Jamiatul Ulama UK:
- Not possible to sight the moon in the UK, especially in the *winter months.
- They feel that we will get continuous months of 30 days
…. as a result, fall behind the rest of the world in the Islamic calendar.
I put this question to:
- Qamar Uddin – Engineer, York (Islamic Crescent Observation UK – ICOUK)
Engineer Qamar Uddin has very kindly provided a 5 – minute video clip, specially prepared to answer these 2 specific questions.
I have also received a 1 minute audio clip from:
- Imad Ahmed – Director (New Crescent Society – NCS)
Finally, a 90 second audio clip has been forwarded to me by Mohammad Quraishi of the NCS, which has been taken from the recent Salam BCR radio programme on the issue of moonsighting. The speaker:
- Dr Zahid Nawaz (Bareilwī school of thought)
… giving us assurance that if we Deobandis unite on the local UK only criteria, then he will also encourage the Bareilwī scholars to adopt the same criteria, اِنْ شَاءَ الَّلهُ.
With 2 days to go until our united moonsighting occasion, unless a miracle happens, it doesn’t look like our 2 organisations, JU and HU are going to move to ‘local UK only’. A golden opportunity is about to be missed. However, as Muslims, we never lose hope in the Power of Almighty Allah and our ‘journey to unity’ continues.
Let’s pray that JU and HU accept Engineer Qamar Uddin’s kind offer of meeting on Sunday 31st July to understand the local UK only criteria, Āmeen.
May The Almighty accept our efforts which are solely for His Pleasure alone and unite us in this very important subject of moonsighting, Āmeen.
جَزَاكَ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا
