السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
It’s Tuesday 30th June 2020. Let’s focus on ‘Good Character’ today.
Muslims have been residing in the UK for over 60 years now .مَا شَآءَ الله When we think back to the 1960s and 70s, it is very difficult to comprehend how the early arrivals here settled in with the host community. Hardly anyone knew English, the culture was completely different, the weather was a shock to the system, hardly anything was compatible. However, our parents managed extremely well .مَا شَآءَ الله
If there was one outstanding quality they possessed, it was ‘good character’. They made the UK their home by ensuring they did not cause any inconvenience to anyone. Muslims and non-Muslims lived in the same streets and worked in the same factories.
The early arrivals were very hard workers, full of honesty and modesty. They earned their living by working hard, fulfilling the rights of their employers. They presented themselves gently and politely. Their good character made them successful. We also need to continue in their footsteps.
Remember, the majority of the host community will judge our faith by looking at us and our character. They will define Islām by looking at the Muslims. There are a number of examples where people have reverted to Islām just by looking at the character of the Muslims.
Unfortunately today, our character is declining to say the least. When it comes to cheating, Muslims seem to be at the forefront. Similarly, with deception, it’s usually Muslims in the lead. Not all are in those categories, and it would be wrong to paint everyone with the same brush.
In conclusion, if you cannot attract someone towards your faith by exhibiting your excellent character, please ensure you do not put them off by your bad character.
Almighty Allāh bestow upon us the ability to always display our good character, Āmeen.
جَزَاكَ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا
