Let me talk about Drugs and Addictions today.
Although the issue of drugs is very common, it is dramatically on the increase at the moment. If you are suspicious or have doubts that a family member, relative, or friend may be involved in the misuse of drugs or other addictions, then please do not turn a blind eye to it, thinking it will go away by itself. The problem will just get worse, and before you know it, it will be well out of control. Once you have reached this point, even tears of blood will be of no use at all.
For those parents whose children are about to start at their secondary school next week, make sure you remain on high alert at all times please. If you notice a slight change in your child’s attitude or behaviour, then take steps to tackle it straight away. Do not be complacent, and do not take any chances.
This transition from primary school to secondary/high school is a major turning point in their lives. There is a lot of help available from the NHS, local authorities, specialist charities, and national helplines, all of which can be approached in confidence. Please do not be shy to seek help.

However, the best protection is the home environment and the constant supervision by family members. It is of the utmost importance that parents give their children the time of day that they deserve.
Husbands and wives need to support each other. With asking for assistance from Almighty Allāh, and doing as much as you can practically, you will be able to help the person who is involved in drug or other substance misuse.
In my next message, I intend to touch upon the signs that you need to look out for, not just for a person addicted to drugs, but towards any other addiction.
