It’s Sunday 28th June 2026 / 12 Muḥarram 1428H
A Weekend in Ireland (part 2)
Having toured Kerry on the first day of our arrival to Ireland, our hosts decided to take us to Dingle. The scenic route from Kerry to Dingle was breathtaking, with mountains, greenery and water surrounding the roads. We stopped at particular points to capture the spectacular scenery.
Although we were blessed with rain, it was still magical. The beauty of Almighty Allāh’s vast creations were such a joy to the eye and pleasure to the heart. سُبْحَانَ الله.
A visit to Dingle cannot be complete without the famous fish ‘n chips, fried completely fresh. It was mouthwatering. Then came Dingle’s famous ice cream parlour, Murphy’s … absolutely irresistible. I went for Honeycomb and Irish Strawberry flavours; heavenly Bliss.
The main programme of the day was after ‘Aṣr, during which a student was completing the Ḥifẓ of The Holy Qur’ān. It was a very emotional gathering. My colleague, Mufti Yūsuf Shabbir, founder of the Islamic Portal website addressed the audience in English and thereafter our chief guest, Mufti Sabih Akhtar, spoke in Urdu.
What we witnessed next was nothing short of a miracle. The student completing his Ḥifẓ took to the stage and recited the last few verses of the Qur’ān. This particular student had a speech impediment and was stuttering. The size of the audience added to his discomfort, making him nervous, which affected his recitation even further.
He just about managed to complete the verses. His teacher, Shaikh Mustafa then explained that this student has had speech problems from day 1 and stutters a lot. However, once he starts reciting the Qur’ān, he can pray quite fluently. He used to recite upto 3 Juz at a time. This was just amazing to hear.
What a brilliant achievement! A number of young scholars who are serving as Imāms in Ireland attended the gathering. It was so pleasing to see them serving the Dīn of Allāh in a country like Ireland. Most of them were from Lancashire UK and had sacrificed their family and homeland to serve the Muslim Community of Ireland.
To be continued.
