السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
It’s Thursday 16th July 2020. Let’s talk about ‘Moon Sighting’ today.
My message dated 1st April although lengthy, is self explanatory. I had predicted that our Central Moonsighting Committee (CMSC) had started the month of Shābān according to the Umm al-Qurā calendar of Saudi Arabia, not actual moon sighting.
Not sure if anyone researched the issue, but as we got to Wednesday 22nd April (29th of Shābān) our CMSC instructed us to try and sight the moon the next day, which was the 30th of Shābān. A clear cut admission that Shab Barāt was observed on the wrong night.
This was the second year in succession that our CMSC made us observe Shab Barāt on the wrong night. Once again, a humble request to all, especially the ‘Ulamā and the Masjid management committees, to revisit this very important subject. Better late than never.
Almighty Allāh grant us the ability to perform our worship on the correct dates, Āmeen.
جَزَاكَ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا
