Dārul Uloom Bury Class of 1991 Reunion Part 1
Saturday 6th June 2026 was a memorable day, one that I and my Dārul Uloom Bury class of 1991 will cherish for a very long time to come, اِنْ شَاءَ الَّلهُ.
In 1985, some 25/30 of us started our journey in the ‘Ālimiyyah Class of the world famous institute known as Dārul Uloom al-Arabiyyah al-Islāmiyyah. Situated in the beautiful lush green countryside of Holcombe Brook, Dārul Uloom became home to us for the next 6 years of our lives.
We came from different towns, cities and countries and found ourselves together in a single class, class 8, for the next 6 years. Within hours we became like brothers.
The next 6 years shaped our lives. Under the auspices of the founders, Ḥaḍrat Mawlānā Muḥammad Yūsuf Motālā Ṣāḥib, نور الله مرقده, Ḥaḍrat Mawlānā Hāshim Jogwāri, مدظله العالی, and Qāri Ismā’īl Samniwālā, نور الله مرقده, not to forget the rest of the teaching and non-teaching staff, this turned out to be a most incredible journey.
Happiness, joy and smiles mixed with tears, fear and emotions became part of our routine. Most of us were homesick and had to rely on moral support from class colleagues during the most difficult of times. Slowly, slowly time started to pass. The first year … then the second … then the third.
Once we had completed 3 years, it was like a downhill journey from there onwards. The 4th & 5th years passed and soon it was graduation day.
To be continued….
